WE BELIEVE IN EVERY COMPANY'S RESPONSIBILITY TO SUSTAINABLY IMPROVE PRODUCTS AND WORKING CONDITIONS. BECAUSE THAT'S THE ONLY THAT CAN ENJOYMENT FUNCTION IN THE FUTURE. AND WE LOVE LET PEOPLE COME WITH GOOD WINE.
BEAUTY WILL SAVE THE WORLD
We are convinced that good design plays a large and inevitable role in changing old behavior patterns (yes you, glass bottle) for the better.
For this reason we have teamed up with Studio Oeding. Katrin is a luminary when it comes to sustainable design. She is part of the great project Wild plastic and developed one of our favorite brands, Stop the water while using me .
If we want customers to open up to new packaging methods and do us the honor of becoming part of their facility with our boxes, they should look damn good. And because they're thicker than the average wine box, we just wrap them in some recycled packaging paper and off you go!
RESPECT FOR THE CRAFTS AND THE PEOPLE BEHIND IT
Many years before we started our HAUS / WINE adventure, we had loved good wine. It was always clear to us that we would not just put any wine into our boxes.
We work with talented winemakers from the best wine regions in Germany and France. In the production of wine there are always leftovers, too small for big brands. Since we only order small batches, we can take advantage of this fact and create exclusive HAUS / WINE cuvées that offer great quality for their price.
We are of the opinion that if a company decides to put another product into this world, that it should be produced under circumstances that value everyone involved in the production process.
In our case, this means that we do not order cheap boxes from a manufacturer abroad. That would save us a lot of money. But then supply chains and working conditions would no longer be transparent for us.
Do you remember the pretty, pink cake boxes from Patisserie Mendl's from the Wes Anderson film "The Grand Budapest Hotel"? They were from Fapack produced. A family business from Berlin, founded in 1869. If craftsmanship in product packaging had a name, it would be this one. We have heard that even the German Chancellor is working with them.
Although we appreciate the personal touch, it would be impossible for us to ship all of these wine boxes ourselves. That's why we have Mosaic Berlin chosen as our fulfillment center. Mosaik offers jobs and vocational training for people with disabilities. In addition, we don't know of any fulfillment center in which the atmosphere would be better than there
LEARN & ACT. AND DO NOT STOP.
We are still a long way from where we would like to be. In all honesty, we're not sure if we ever will be.
The bag in our box is still made of PE.
Although the solution seems so simple (finding a sustainable material for the bags), the reality is much more complex.
Even if we were to make our bags from chalk, for example: The German recycling cycle would not be ready for this and would have no way of filtering them from normal household waste
The much more sustainable solution is to create your own, independent cycle. Similar to that of returnable bottles. To do this, we work with a packaging engineer. Once established, we can manufacture our bags from almost completely recycled material.
Although we are already saving quantities of C02 emissions during transport, we are working on a concept to make HAUS / WINE a climate-neutral company.
And we're sure: once we're there, we'll have a thousand new plans for how we can make things even better.
